Ask.com Acquires Dictionary.com

Ask.com has bought a stable of Internet reference sites that includes Dictionary.com in its latest effort to distinguish itself from online search leader Google Inc. and other much larger rivals.

Besides Dictionary.com, Ask is picking up Thesaurus.com and Reference.com in its acquisition of Lexico Publishing Group LLC. Terms of the deal, set to be announced Thursday, aren't being disclosed.

With the addition of the widely used reference tools, Ask hopes to make more money showing ads to people looking for answers to basic questions. "We want to 'super serve' those people," said Jim Safka, who runs Ask for its corporate parent, IAC/InterActiveCorp. Read More..

Developer Team Ninja’s gore-laden franchise Ninja Gaiden is back and it looks gorier than ever. We had a chance to taste some of the action via an early build of the game, and boy, did we love what we saw!

To start off, let me tell you guys that the game isn’t as hard as the previous one. The last Ninja Gaiden was super tough for all but the elite, making it kind of unappealing to many. To allow more flexibility than its predecessor, Ninja Gaiden 2 allows you to pick from four difficulty levels to suit your skill level – Path of the Acolyte, Path of the Warrior, Path of the Mentor and Path of the Master Ninja, with the last being the hardest. Philips Launches 2 iPhone Killers

Phillips has decided to officially bring out their 'iPhone killers' and add their names to a rather lengthy list of contenders for the title. Their handsets – the X800 and Xenium X-Connect are both Totally Touch Screen Mobiles.

The X800 is equipped with a 2.9-inch TFT touch screen with 240 x 400 pixel resolution and 262k colors. It supports external memory via microSD cards and comes with a 2 megapixel auto-focus camera. Other features include Bluetooth and handwriting recognition. According to the company, the X800 would be able to offer users up to 8 hours of talk time. Read more
